"Find the Right Plan with Anatoly Karpov" is widely considered a masterpiece of instructional, positional chess. One reviewer famously claimed that a player less familiar with positional chess could "tack 200 points onto his rating overnight" after studying it. The book has even been noted as a text studied by current World Champion Magnus Carlsen in his youth, which speaks volumes about its enduring quality.
The most valuable contribution of "Find the Right Plan" is its systematic approach to position evaluation. Karpov instructs the reader to follow a clear set of steps before committing to a single move, which can be remembered as the core of Karpovian thinking:
Unlike dynamic attackers like Tal or Kasparov, Karpov excelled at finding plans that:
Anatoly Karpov's approach to strategic planning, as outlined in "Find The Right Plan.pdf", provides valuable insights into the art of finding the right plan. By understanding the position, identifying key factors, developing a long-term strategy, and being flexible and adaptable, individuals and organizations can achieve their objectives and stay ahead of the competition. Whether in chess, business, or personal development, Karpov's approach provides a timeless and universal framework for strategic planning.
This article serves as a comprehensive guide to the chess classic, . We'll explore its core teachings, why it remains a seminal text on positional chess, and how you can use its principles to dramatically improve your own game.
Anatoly Karpov sits at his study table, a single lamp casting a cone of light over a neat stack of papers. The room smells faintly of old books and cedar. On top of the pile lies a slim PDF titled “Find The Right Plan,” its cover plain but for Karpov’s name and a small chessboard motif. The document is his roadmap — not for a tournament or an opening repertoire, but for a different campaign: how to shape the later years of his life and legacy with the same strategic clarity he once reserved for the 64 squares.
The book teaches a specific thought process to use during your games. Use this checklist when it is your move:
Karpov’s patient builds in the Petroff and some Ruy Lopez-derived setups illustrated how to neutralize tactical shots and steer games into manipulable endgames. Opening lines he used gained reputations as highly resilient systems at top levels.
This comprehensive article explores the essence of Karpov’s strategic methodology, breaks down his approach to planning, and explains how studying his games can help you master the art of finding the right plan in your own encounters. The Philosophy of the "Right Plan" in Chess
The guide is typically divided into sections that build upon each other.
VII. Criticisms and Limitations
ChroPath is really a fab Spy tool . It's so productive and saved a lot of time which we used to spend for spying element and to construct the RelXPath along with many additional features like copying and editing are really appreciated. Thanks for such a nice Initiative.
I have used xpath tools liked firepath and firebug and ranorex selocity etc but after using this ChroPath, I stopped using all those, simply because of its explicit ways of showing all the relevant search elements highlighted and showing suggested xpaths. It is simply so nice that the ones who are new to finding xpath will find it very very useful. Kudos!!
Awesome tool. After the firepath discontinued I was looking similar tools as this is only tool i found which i can use it for my work. Chropath helps the automation engineers to find the locators on daily work. I liked all the new updates too. Thank you Sanjay. Keep up the great work.
Initially, I had to use firefox previous version on which support FirePath and FireBug to identify object but on older version of mozila my application was not opening so I had to spent much time in object identification. But now Chropath is helping a lot..Element identification and verification is so quick and chropath suggest best relative xpath.
